Better Education for a better world
The Egyptian Chinese University (ECU) welcomes applications for undergraduate degrees for both the Fall
and Spring
Semesters. Students are eligible to apply through any of the following methods:
Early Admissions
Because of the limited number of students admitted to The Egyptian Chinese University (ECU), students in
their final
secondary school year are encouraged to apply for an early admission. This reserves a place at ECU as
early as ten days
after receiving secondary school results. Students must fulfill all secondary school graduation
requirements and meet
all the University’s admission requirements for final admission.
Regular Admissions
All students are welcome to apply through the regular admission process. Non-Egyptian, or Egyptian
students with
international certificates, whose exam results are announced late, will be permitted to apply after the
regular
admission deadline, depending on the dates of their examination results. However, it is advised that
these students
reserve a place through early admission, as well. For deadlines and procedures, please refer to the
Admissions Office.
Acceptance Criteria
The University accepts students holding the following certificates:
The Egyptian General Secondary Certificate of Education (Thanawiya Amma) (Arts, Math or Sciences) and
Thanawiya Amma
from other Arab countries.
The Egyptian Azharian Thanwiya.
The American High School Diploma.
The French Secondary School Certificate (Baccalauréat de L’Enseignement Secondaire) .
The German Secondary School Certificate (Abitur).
The British Secondary School Certificates (IGCSE, GCSE, ASL or AL.)
The International Baccalaureate.
Canadian High School Diploma.
Application Requirements
The University's admission requirements comply fully with the regulations established by the Egyptian
Council of Private
Universities (CPU). Applicants must have attained the Egyptian Secondary School General Certificate
(Thanawiya Amma) or
approved equivalent certificates (see above).

English Placement Test
All new students applying for admission to the University must sit for the English Placement Test (EPT).
Students will
be placed in an English language course according to their scores. Students should be aware that the EPT
is a
provisional assessment only and students may be asked to move up or down a level at the discretion of an
instructor.
Students holding a valid international TOEFL certificate with an equivalent score of 550 and above are
exempt from the
EPT.
Requirements of Faculty of Engineering and Technology
General requirements:
Original Birth Certificate
6 passport size recent photos (not older than one year).
Military Service Form (Namouzag 2 Gond), for Egyptian male students only.
Letter of withdrawal from other University (in case student is registered in another University)
All documents will be examined by the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education Council for Private
Universities, prior the
final registration at ECU

Having passed at least 8 O-levels (must include Math, Physics and Chemistry)

Minimum O-level-Grade is "C"

Having passed at least 2 ASL subjects (must include Math + Physics OR Chemistry) OR
1 AL subject (must be Math)

Accepted number of sittings is 5 (taken during not more than 3 successive years).

IGCSE OL subjects obtained from Arab countries should be of the extended, not of the
core system.
Required Documents

IGCSE-Slips stamped by the British Council as True Documents only (no other stamp
can replace the British Council
stamp), certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and الإدارة العامة للإمتحانات
(Ministry of Education).

IGSCE-Slips stamped by the British Council as copies of true documents will not be
treated as originals and cannot be
accepted.

Edadeya Certificate or proof of 12 years of schooling stamped by school and
certified by the Educational Zone the school
belongs to.

If the proof of 12 years of schooling is obtained from outside Egypt required stamps
are: the school stamp, the stamp of
the Educational Zone and the Egyptian embassy in that foreign country.

Original document of Arabic Language and Religion exams Thanaweya Amma level (for

Academic requirements

Having successfully completed 8 different subjects
-
Subjects less than one credit are not accepted
-
Subjects as PE, music, yearbook, Religion, etc … are not counted.

Accepted students must have been studying at least the last 3 years (grade 10, 11
and 12) in the American system.
Students who studied all their courses in one or two year/s only (grade 11 and /or
12) in the American system will not
be accepted.

Subjects can be calculated from Grade 12, 11 or 10. Minimum number of subjects to be
calculated from G12 is 4, maximum
number of subjects from G11 is 4, and to be completed accordingly from G 10 if
needed and maximum number of subjects to
be calculated from G10 is 2.

Having passed SAT I

Having passed SAT II subjects (must include Math + Physics OR Chemistry) OR Advanced
Math.
Required Documents

Final High School Transcript obtained from Egypt must be stamped by the school, the
NCA (or relevant U.S. Accreditation
Institution), certified by the Egyptian cultural attaché in Washington and الإدارة
العامة للإمتحانات (Ministry of
Education).

Final High School Diploma obtained from Egypt must be stamped by the school, the NCA

SAT Score(s) stamped by the AMIDEAST.

All Islamic subjects are not calculated during the evaluation of the final
percentage.

Students obtaining their Thanaweyya Amma from Yemen must submit proof of 12 years of
schooling.
Required Documents

Original Thanaweyya Amma Certificate stamped by the Egyptian Embassy of the
certificate’s country of origin. (No
certified copies will be accepted).

Students applying with a Saudi Arabian Thanaweyya Amma must submit the original
stamped certificates of Grade 11 and
Grade 12.

Saudi Arabian Thanaweyya Amma must be presented with شهادة قدرات

Students obtaining their Thanaweyya Amma from Yemen must submit proof of 12 years of
schooling stamped by the school and
certified by the Educational Zone the school belongs to.
